Grind versus etch
Most garage floors don’t fail because of the epoxy
They fail because the installer skipped the grind. Diamond grinding opens the concrete into a mechanical key. Acid etching just cleans the surface. Watch what a hot tire does to each one.
Acid etched
Surface film
The coating sits on top of the concrete. There’s nothing to grip, so a hot tire lifts the edge and it flakes away.
Diamond ground
Mechanical bond
The profile is opened up and the coating keys into it. The same hot tire rolls over and nothing lifts.

See the difference
Drag the slider to see the same garage before and after. Every floor goes through the same five steps, and the second one is where cheap installers cut corners.
Same garage. Drag to wipe.
The parts of the job a cheap quote leaves out
Two quotes for the same garage can be thousands apart, and it is almost never the epoxy. It is which of these got skipped.
One story at a time
Five real jobs from Bergen County homeowners, in their own words.
Our garage went from stained concrete to a showroom floor in a day and a half. The metallic flake looks incredible and you can wipe oil right off it.
